Notes for Elizabeth ALEXANDER, IMMIGRANT ANCESTOR


Presbyterians.

Emigrated about 1740 from Ulster, Northern Ireland to Lancaster Co., PA.

Moved with children and their families from PA to Fincastle, VA about 1765, to Elk Garden (later Russell Co., VA) about 1769.

Moved with children and families from VA to KY (now Paris, Bourbon Co.) in 1779.

June 26, 1780. Captured in KY by British and Indians, taken as prisoner of war, forced to walk and ride in small boats to Detroit (which was then part of Canada).

Returned to Elk Garden, VA after the War, lived with son.
