Census of 1850 - owned 13 slaves. 5 were children under age 15. 7 were listed as mulatto, the others, black.
Had 17 children who survived to adulthood. Wife, sister and daughter of iron workers of German extraction. Probably illiterate.
Sister of Jacob Slemp, husband Leonard's sister Sarah's husband.
